Grocery List
Optional: use this applesauce as a topping for our Banana Pumpkin Pancake recipe
This recipe tastes great with our Banana Pumpkin Pancake recipe (use the applesauce as a topping in place of syrup). If you want to make the pancakes, here's the grocery list for that recipe.
If you want to make the two recipes at the same time, here's how that works:
Start applesauce (peel and chop apples, put on stove to simmer)
Make pancakes
Finish applesauce (take off stove and mash)
Eat both together!
Ingredient notes
Apples:
Any variety will work. We're partial to Honeycrisp because of its natural sweetness.

Grown-up Pro Tips
This recipe includes a lot of peeling and dicing. Younger or less experienced kid chefs might take a while to complete these tasks. Be ready to jump in and assist with both to make it go faster!
The recipe suggests that you'll need to simmer the applesauce for 20-30 minutes, but it could take shorter or longer depending on the water content of your apples. It's done when the apples are soft enough to mash with a fork.
