Breakfast Smoothie


Serves 2 for Breakfast

15 minutes prep time

The rundown:

  1. You'll add all the ingredients in the blender
  2. Then you'll blend!

allergies and dietary restrictions:

  • Vegetarian, vegan, gluten free, dairy free
  • Can be made nut free (see below)


  • Substitutions:

    • For nut allergy: use regular cow milk or soy milk and omit the almond butter

    • For almond allergy: use regular cow milk or soy milk and use a nut butter of your choice

Grown-up Pro Tips

  • Mango not your thing? Any other frozen fruit will work.

Shopping List

  • Almond milk (you’ll use 2 cups)

  • Frozen mango chunks (you’ll use a whole 10 oz package)

  • 1 banana

  • Almond butter (you’ll use 4 tablespoons)

  • Rolled oats (look for “old-fashioned oats” or “rolled oats”, instant oatmeal or steel-cut oats won’t work, you’ll need ½ cup)

Ready to cook? Instructions below

  • Wash hands

  • Collect ingredients

    • Almond milk

    • Frozen mango chunks

    • 1 banana

    • Almond butter

    • Rolled oats
  • Collect tools

    • Blender

    • Liquid measuring cup

    • Measuring cups (1 cup and ½ cup)

    • Tablespoon measure

  • Grownup: set up blender, with lid off

  • Measure 2 cups almond milk

    • Use a liquid measuring cup

    • Pour into blender

  • Add banana

    • Peel 1 banana

    • Add to blender (don’t need to cut)

  • Add 2 cups frozen mango

    • Measure 2 cups frozen mango (about one whole 10 oz package)

    • Add to blender

  • Add 4 TBSP almond butter

    • Measure 4 tablespoons almond butter

    • Use finger to scrape into blender

  • Add ½ cup rolled oats
    • Measure 1/2 cup rolled oats
    • Pour into blender
  • Grownup: put the blender lid back on
  • Blend!
    • Turn on the blender, blend until smooth
    • Turn off the blender and remove from the base
  • Pour into 2 glasses
  • Clean up
    • A handy clean up trick: Put water and dish soap in blender, turn the blender on, pour out! This gets rid of the gunk on the blade and on the sides of the blender.
