Healthy Easter Treat for Kids: Yogurt-Dipped Strawberry "Easter Eggs"

Hoppy Easter Week! While we believe that holidays are an appropriate time to indulge in treats (Peeps, anyone?), it's good to throw some healthy snacks into the celebrating too!

This week we'll be featuring 3 healthy Easter treats for kids in advance of Sunday's egg-stravaganza. These yogurt-dipped strawberry "easter eggs" are delicious, healthy, and Instagram-worthy. Now let's hop to it!

Speaking of Instagram, if you make any of these, post a pic on Instagram and tag us (@nomsterchef). We’d love to see them!

Yogurt-Dipped Strawberry "Easter Eggs"

Recipe adapted from Salt & Lavender

30 minutes active time, 60 minutes in the freezer (90 minutes total)

collect ingredients

  • Strawberries (as many as you would like to eat!)

  • Large tub of plain Greek yogurt

  • Food coloring drops

  • Sprinkles (optional)

collect tools

  • Sheet pan

  • Wax paper

  • Small bowls (one for each color you want to make)

  • Spoons (one for each color)

  • Toothpick (optional)

prep

  1. Wash strawberries

  2. Line baking sheet with wax paper

  3. Divide Greek yogurt into as many bowls as colors you'd like to make (we made 5: purple, pink, blue, green, yellow)

  4. Drop food coloring into each bowl, keep adding until you get the desired color

  5. Dip strawberries into yogurt, arrange on baking sheet

  6. Leave in freezer for 30 minutes

  7. Dip strawberries into yogurt for a second time (to make the coating nice and thick)

  8. Optional: Add sprinkles, if desired

  9. Put back in freezer for 30 more minutes

  10. Optional: If you want to make fancy eggs, use toothpicks to make "egg" designs after the second freezing. Freeze again to set the designs, or eat right away as we did!

  11. Nom!

pro-tip

Try adding the sprinkles after the first layer of yogurt for another cool look.
